I don’t think there’s anything wrong with eating other animals, but there is definitely something extremely fucked up about factory farming.
But if you want to own chickens, and eat their eggs, I dont see anything wrong with that as long as you know what you’re doing, and how to take care of an animal. I saw this one woman at Vegfest who rescued battery hens - but since she knew absolutely nothing about a hens’ diet, the hens were extremely calcium deficient and their eggs were very soft. She wouldn’t give them calcium because its made from either ground up bones or oyster shells, and you know, that’s not vegan.
So if someone hands me a meat sandwich, I’ll eat it because I don’t want food to go to waste. But I won’t buy meat or dairy anymore, and eggs only very rarely, all the while learning more vegan recipes and saving up to build a hen house. I really want hens. Seriously, two hens will give your family eggs for an entire year.
